Project 365, Watercolor, Day #59

Hello,

Happy Friday.   Here is my watercolor for day #59.

I got this idea earlier in the day, while I was flipping through some of my butterfly images from last year.  A little different from what I have done so far with my watercolors and I like it.

I hope you have a great weekend!  Thanks for stopping by.

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Watercolor, Day #58

Hello,

I hope you had a good day.  Here is my watercolor for day #58.

Random splotches of color.  I wanted to try and drop large drops of color from the paint brush but it didn't work the way I wanted.  I ended up just pouncing the brush to make the splotches.  I like the colors, some of my favorites.

That'll be all for tonight.  Thanks for stopping by.

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Watercolor, Day #57

Hello,

I hope you had a nice day.  Here is my watercolor for day #57.

A fun simple spiral tonight.  I like the combo of this one.

I had a meeting today with the owner of the company who did our kitchen and bathroom.  We still have a contract to do our hall bathroom.  We wanted to express our concerns from the previous job before we start the hall bath.  Chris was stuck at work, so I was on my own.  It went ok, but it would have been better with Chris there.

So, not what I expected today, but time to move on.  I hope you enjoy my painting tonight.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great night.

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Watercolor, Day #56

Hello,

I hope you had a good day.  Not much time tonight, so here is my watercolor for day #56.

A soft background tonight.  I painted this first and was going to add something to it, but I just couldn't decide on that 'something'.  I didn't think any of the ideas would work, or I was concerned I wouldn't like the picture once I added them.  Since I liked the soft look of these colors, I decided to go with just them.  They remind me of some of the beautiful sherbet sunrises I have seen.  I love seeing those colors int the sky, and I am always impressed with the beauty.

That will be all for tonight.  Have a great evening and thanks for stopping by.

Take care,
Kelly

Tuesday Tidbits - 2/25/2014

Hello,

I hope you had a good two weeks.  So much going on right now in the Godlewski house that I haven't had the time to work that much in the studio on Stampin' Up!.  I was able to make a few cards for a birthday and wedding shower.  I am sharing the card I made for the wedding shower.  I just took a quick picture with my iPad so the quality is not the best.  The bride to be is all about vintage and lace, that was my inspiration for the card.  I hope you enjoy the sample.

There are new weekly specials, new digital downloads and of course Sale-a-bration is happening right now.  Enjoy!

Project 365, Watercolor, Day #55

Hello,

I hope you had a nice day.  Today Seamus had to got to the dermatologist.  Our regular vet could not figure out what is going on with him, so off to the specialist.  He had some biopsies done, so we will have to wait and see.

I was sketching while I waited for Seamus today.  I took a portion of one of the sketches and thought I would try and watercolor it.  Here is day #55 watercolor.

I drew the design and then outlined the drawing with a sharpie tonight, before I watercolored it.  I am not sure I like the sharpie on this one, but perhaps I need to play with it some more.

That will be all for me tonight.  Have a great night and thanks for stopping by.

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Watercolor, Day #54

Hello,

I hope you had a nice weekend.  We had a nice sunny day here and I took advantage of it and sat outside for a bit, soaking up the sun.  It felt good to relax and feel the warmth of the sun and listen to the leaves rustle in the breeze.

I spent longer than I thought I would on my painting tonight.  I thought I was going to draw a quick sketch and paint it quick, but things changed.  Here is day #54 watercolor.

I am not sure it looks like I spent a long time on it but it's true.  Each color needs time to dry before the next one is painted next to it, otherwise the colors run into each other.  I guess I am still surprised at how long everything can take.  I like the way this turned out.

That's about all for me tonight.  I hope you have a great evening.  Thanks for stopping by.

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Watercolor, Day #53

Hello,

I hope you had a good day.  Here is my watercolor for day #53.

I sketched my design first tonight. This one took a little time to paint even for the simple design.  I really like th overall composition of this one.  Of course these are some of my favorite colors, so that always help.  I hope you enjoy this one.

Things seem to be more hectic than usual here, so there is always something going on.  Not much time to think about other things.  That's the way things go sometimes. : )

That's all for me tonight.  Have a great evening and thanks for stopping by.

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Watercolor, Day #52

Hello,

I hope you had a good Friday.  Here is my watercolor for day # 52.

I did a little sketch first again tonight.  I knew I wanted to do a simple little tree scene.  I left the white space tonight for the background, but for this one, I think I should have added a littler color.  I like the overall design of this one.  I need to find a place to take photos where I don't get the shadows, because they do bug me.  I have all the overhead lights, so it's hard to avoid.  I will work on that.

That's all for now, have a great evening and thanks for stopping by.

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Watercolor, Day #51

Hello,

I hope you had a good day.  I sketched quickly tonight before I started painting.  Here is day #51 watercolor.

It was a simple quick sketch.  I painted in the background first and really like the leaves as a negative image.  I decided to add color though.  I have to say I don't like this finished product better though.  I really like the leaves as negative  space.  I was tough on myself and did not start over.  Working with what you have is challenging but of course a learning process at the same time.

That's all for tonight.  Have a great one and thanks for stopping by.

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Watercolor, Day #50

Hello,

I hope you had a nice day.  I had a busy day again today.  Here is my watercolor for day #50.

I have a night scene with a starry sky tonight.  I did the salt technique tonight.  I am not sure if it is used a lot in watercoloring, but I have used it in printmaking techniques before.  It's fun because it pulls the color out and you never know how it will work.

That's all for tonight.  Thanks for stopping by and have a great night.

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Watercolor, Day#49

Hello,

I hope you had a nice day.  It was a busy day with lots of appointments for the girls.  Not much time for other things today.

I really couldn't think of what I wanted to paint tonight.  I stared at the paper for a bit and went back a few times.  Here is what I have for tonight's watercolor, day #49.

I'm not sure what I think.  I guess it's hard to decide, because I found it difficult to paint tonight.  That will be all for me tonight.  Have a great evening and thanks for stopping by.

Takes care,
Kelly

Project 365, Watercolor, Day #48

Hello,

I hope you had a nice day.  Everyone had the day off today, so it was nice to have another weekend day.  Chris and I went through all of our clothes and got rid of a lot of things today.  It was nice to get the closet organized.  We did great today, sometimes it is so hard to sort through things and get rid of them, but today we were on a roll.

I wasn't sure what I was going to paint tonight.  I started something and then just blended it into a background.  I wasn't happy with the first start.  Here's what I came up with in the end.  Here is day #48 watercolor.

I like what I ended up with.  Abstract and fun to me.  I hope you are enjoying these.  Let me know what you think, I would love some feedback.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great night.

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Watercolor, Day #47

Hello,

I hope you had a nice Sunday.  It was a nice day.  Chris and I went to the beach and just sat in the chairs and relaxed for a bit.  It was nice to just listen to the waves and smell the ocean.  Very relaxing.  I took a few pics while we were there.  I was inspired to paint my picture early.

Here is day #47 watercolor.

A few waves today and a beautiful blue sky.  That is my painting for tonight.

Have a great night and thanks for stopping by.

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Watercolor Day #46

Hello,
I hope you had a nice day.  Molly and I went to a bridal shower today for her piano teacher.  It was in San Diego and it took two hours to get there, but so worth it.  The bride(Renita) is so cute and her enthusiasm is contagious. The wedding will just be the cutest.

I was watching tv and got an idea for a painting.  Her is day #46 watercolor.

It may look like just a pattern but I my intent is a city scape.  Simple and abstract of course, but a city scape.  I hope you enjoy this one, I like it.

That's all for tonight.  Thanks for stopping by and have a good night.

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Watercolor, Day #45

Happy Valentines Day!

I hope you had a nice day.  I worked on a few things for the family today.  Here are the flowers I got today.

The tulips were to pretty to pass up.  I bought the roses and made a little heart for everyone and tied them to the roses.

I drew up my design again tonight before I painted.  Here is day #45 watercolor.

It started out pretty good but I tried to paint in the background after all the detail.  That didn't work well.  I ended up blurring some of the lines.  I don't think the designs were dry enough as well.  Always learning. : )

That's all for tonight.  Have a great evening and thanks for stopping by.

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Watercolor, Day #44

Hello,

I hope you had a nice day. Lots of the same old, same old here.  The girls did have a dentist appointment today which took almost two hours.  I couldn't paint while I was there but I did get to do a little beading.

Tonight I decided to draw a design on my paper before I started to watercolor.  (Most of my other paintings I just freehand the design.). I like what I came up with.  Here is day #44 watercolor.

What do you think?  I like the simplicity, (of course), and I also like the color combination.  I left the background blank tonight, which I also like for this composition.  Well I hope you enjoyed tonight's painting.  That's all for me.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great night.

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Watercolor, Day #43

Hello,

I hope you had a good day.  I started my watercolor late tonight so I am going right to it.  Here is day #43 watercolor.

Another abstract.  A base of color and then my design.  I like what I came up with for being tired.  I am still amazed at this journey as well.  I just never know what I will come up with or how it will turn out.

That's all for me tonight.  It's late and I need to wrap things up.

Have a great evening.

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Watercolor, Day #42

Hello,

I hope you had a good day.  I worked on a few different things today.  I wanted to make some cards for friends, so I was working on those and I had to run around with the girls a bit. After dinner I painted my watercolor.  Here is day #42 watercolor.

Another abstract tonight. I like the way this one turned out tonight, and I hope you do to.  That's it for tonight.  Have a great evening and thanks for stopping by.

Take care,
Kelly

Tuesday Tidbits - 2/11/2014

Hello,

I hope you had a nice week!

I worked on organizing a bit yesterday.  I never organized my ink pads or paper from the color renovation at the start of this catalog.  Can you believe it?  I always thought I would get to it, but it didn't happen until yesterday.  I created a document in MDS that uses little 1/2" circles with the color and name of each of our colors.  I used this same technique before but it was much easier to do in MDS than a word document.  Here is how I use it.

I print out two, one on whisper white card stock and one just on regular copy paper.  I use the copy paper one to cut out the families and adhere to the top of the color caddy.  That way I know where the colors go and if one is out, I know what's missing.  For the card stock sheet, I use my 1/2" circle punch and punch out the individual colors and adhere them to my paper storage.  It makes it much easier to find what I am looking for.  You could also use it for the tops of your file folders if that's how you store your card stock.

I have the file I made in PDF form for anyone would like it.  It has all the 40 colors as well as the two sets of in-colors.  Just let me know if you would like it and I will email you the file.

SAMPLE

Here is my sample for this week.

I wanted to show you the basic base of the card and then the finished product.  You could add so many different things to the 'film frames'.  I like what I added but I think it might need a layer of summer starfruit card stock behind the strawberry slush card stock, for another little pop of color.
