Project 365, Watercolor, Day #31

Hello,

I hope you had a nice Friday.  It was a pretty good day here.  Here is tonight's watercolor, day #31.

I wanted to do a fun abstract tonight.  I like what I came up with.  What do you think?

Well I completed another month!   I wasn't sure if I was going to keep up with this round but so far so good.  I have to say that I enjoy the process and what I am accomplishing.

That's it for now.  Have a great evening and weekend.  Thanks for stopping by.

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Watercolor, Day #30

Hello,

I hope you had a good day.  Here is my watercolor for tonight, day #30.

I was trying for one larger blossom but it didn't work the way I was thinking.  I was going to start over but I also want to work with the same philosophy as when I was doing my butterflies.  (Start a painting/drawing and continue to work through it, no matter how much I want to start over.)

It is a learning process and the mistakes definitely help with learning.  : )

That's it for me tonight.  Have a great evening and thanks for stopping by.

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Watercolor, Day #29

Hello,

I hope you had a nice day.  I spent the day working on a hall closet.  It was sort of a closet storage room before the remodel, but now it is a traditional closet with door.  I am trying to organize and optimize space now.  I have always been thinking about it, but when some things are new and organized, I want it all to be organized.  I just wish it could be done quicker.  : )  I did not think it would take one day for the closet, but it did.

Chris showed me some of his sunrise and sunset photos he has been taking during his runs and those were my inspiration for tonight.  Here is day #29.

I wanted to use the oranges and reds that were part of the photos.  I love how the photos look like impressionist paintings sometimes.  I wanted to try and paint with that abstract feel but I know I don't have the detail of the fine brush strokes that I needed.  I know I need to spend more time on a painting for that kind of detail, but I didn't have the time tonight.  I am happy with what I painted though.  I hope you enjoyed this one.

That's all for now.  Have a great evening and thanks for stopping by.

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Watercolor, Day #28

Hello,

I hope you had a good day.  Here is my watercolor for today, day #28.

A larger pattern of leaves for tonight.  I like the way the greens blended in the leaves.

Not a lot to say tonight.  Sometimes I feel like I ramble on about the same things.  (I believe I have said that before as well.).   : )   I guess that's all for tonight.  Have a great evening and thanks a for stopping by.

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Watercolor, Day #27

Hello,

I hope you had a nice day.  The girls had the day off today, so it still felt like the weekend here.  I did a little yard work and the normal errands.  Nothing to exciting. : ). Here is day #27.

Just playing with colors and different techniques with the brushes I have.  That's all for tonight.  Have a great evening and thanks for stopping by.

Project 365, Watercolor, Day #26

Hello,

I hope you had a nice Sunday.  It was a pretty good day here.  Here is day #26.

Another pattern tonight.  I like working on patterns because I like to see what I can come up with.  I really want to work on ideas for fabric design, so this is fun and a good experience.

That's all for tonight.  Have a great evening and thanks for stopping by.

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Watercolor, Day #25

Hello,

I hope you a good day.  I painted the first coat of the trim today in the bath and I also painted one coat in the hall closet.  Of course I am really tired but it is good to get a lot done.  Here is my watercolor for today, day #25.

A landscape for tonight.  I really didn't have anything in my mind but this just sort of came out.  A simple design for a landscape, but sometimes that works the best.

That's all for tonight.  Have a great evening and thanks for stopping by.

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Watercolor, Day #24

Hello,

I hope you had a nice day.  I painted the second coat in the bathroom today, so the walls are done, yeah!  I just need to paint the trim now, so it's getting closer.  It will be nice to have one room done.  I did my watercolor after dinner.  Here is day #24.

A splatter painting tonight.  I should have taken a picture of the counter as well because I made a mess.  ; )  You can try and aim, but the paint really doesn't go where you want.  Of course I like the simplicity of this one and it's just fun.

That's all for me.  Have a great evening and thanks for stopping by.

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Watercolor, Day #23

Hello,

I hope you had a good day.  I tried to work on my watercolor earlier today, before dinner.  Chris came home early and then I was rushing to try and finish it, in-between dinner.  I did finish it but I kept getting interruptions and comments.  Not always easy for me to work like that, so now I know why I usually wait until 9pm, or after to work on it.  Here is my watercolor for day #23.

A chevron pattern tonight.  If you look on the top right chevron pattern you can see a spot where I dripped water on it and messed up the pattern.  That's also a lesson to not clean my brushes right away and put them away over my painting.  I was definitely feeling rushed.  It's not a bad pattern though.  I like it after stepping away from it for a bit.

That's all for tonight.  Have a great evening and thanks for stopping by.

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Watercolor, Day#22

Hello,

I hope you had a good day.  I painted the master bath again today and did the first coat of color today.  I am tired tonight, not used to the movement again.  I have a quick watercolor tonight.  Here is day #22.

A wash in the background and then the simple shapes.  We were watching a show and during the commercials I got inspired by something I saw, and this popped into my head.  It might sound different, to be inspired to do something so basic, but that's what happened.  : )

Thanks for stopping by and have a great evening!

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Watercolor, Day #21

Hello,

I hope you had a good day.  I started painting my house again.  I still have a lot of touch ups to do from the remodel, as well as painting complete rooms and trim.  I am not that excited about it now because I just want it all done.  I figure I will just try and do a little each day, and then maybe I won't feel so overwhelmed.  : )

I tried watching a watercolor tutorial on YouTube today.  I didn't get through an entire video because I needed to go and do some other things.  I was inspired to try what I was watching though.  Here is day #21.

I watched a tutorial on painting a landscape in a single color.  Of course mine looks nothing like the tutorial but it's not a bad start.  Hopefully I will get a chance to watch more soon.

That's all for me.  Have a great evening and thanks for stopping by.

Kelly

Project 365, Watercolor, Day #20

Hello,

I hope you had a good day.  Happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day to you.  I hope you had a good day and if you had the day off, I hope you enjoyed that as well.    I saw this cool tribute in a different way on houzz.com.  Here is a link.  http://houzz.com/ideabooks/22094274. I though t it was cool how they put his quotes into basic photos, to help you remember the greatness of his words and also the simplicity of them.

Here is day #20, a watercolor.

A simple pattern again tonight.  I'm not sure if you can see the slight pattern in the background but there is a subtle yellow and orange pattern in the back.

That's all for tonight.  Have a great evening and thanks for stopping by.

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Watercolor, Day #19

Hello,

I hope you had a nice Sunday.  It was an odd day for me of sorts.  On to today's watercolor, day #19.

I didn't really know what I wanted to do tonight.  I started just playing with the background.  Hannah came over and said "You aren't doing flowers again, are you?"  I wasn't sure at that point but I do like playing with different abstract flower ideas.  I finished the background and let it dry, then decided to add the vines.  A simple pattern but I like it.

That's it for me.  Have a great evening and thanks for stopping by.

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Watercolor, Day #18

Hello,

I hope you are having a nice Saturday.  I did my grocery shopping earlier and then worked on my bills and receipts that I have been neglecting since vacation.  Things have felt a little more relaxed today.  It might be because the girls have Monday off, so there is not as much pressure to have so much done today.  It feels good, that's all I can say.  We are going to relax and have a little family time, so I did my watercolor early.  Here is day #18.

I decided on an abstract design today.  I just wanted to play with lines and some complimentary colors.    I know I say it a lot, but I like the simplicity of this one.  These just appeal to me.

That's all for now.  Have a great evening!  Thanks for stopping by.

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Watercolor, Day #17

Hello,

Happy Friday to you!  I hope you had a good day.  Here is day #17 watercolor.

I was trying to use the same colors as yesterday, and do a coordinating print.  I started with a yellow background.  I used the other colors to make the flowers.  It is ok, but there are some things I would like to change, but it has to do with technique.  I know now for next time though.  This one would also match better if I would have left the background white.

That's all for tonight.  Have a great evening and thanks for stopping by.

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Watercolor, Day #16

Hello,

I hope you had a good day.  I have a pattern watercolor for tonight.  Here is day #16.

A fun stripe pattern tonight.  I think this would be a nice spring or summer print.  I would love to know what you are thinking about my new 365 adventure.

That's all for me tonight.  Have a great evening and thanks for stopping by.

Kelly

Project 365, Watercolor, Day #15

Hello,

I hope you had a nice day.  While driving Molly to school this morning, I was able to see a pretty sunrise.  That was my inspiration for my watercolor tonight.  Here is day #15.

It was one of those sunrises with a sherbet color sky.  The mountains looked like a warm chocolate brown and then everything in the foreground was dark and rich.  I wish a camera could document the beauty you see with your eyes.  It was a very pretty morning.

That's it for me tonight.  I hope you enjoy this painting.  Thanks for stopping by and have a great evening.

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Watercolor, Day #14

Hello,

I hope you had a good day.  Long day here at the homestead.  : )  I have a quicker watercolor for you tonight.  Here is day #14.

A simple pattern tonight, based on circles.  This one was relatively quick.  I do need to wait for each layer to dry before I can do the next one, but it is not to bad.  I almost left it with just the first layer of large green circles, because I liked the way they looked.  I decided to try and add more.  There is no erasing with the watercolors though.  Once the go down, I have to work with it, whether I like it or not.  It is an interesting process and I am learning every time I do a new one.

That's all for me.  Have a great evening and thanks for stopping by.

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Watercolor, Day #13

Hello,

I hope you had a good day.  Today is Chris' birthday.  I cooked a couple of his favorites for dinner.  It had to be a quick dinner because Molly had a dance show tonight at school. She did a good job and it was nice to see the full dance because we have seen her practicing her part for a while.  We came home and did cake and presents.  Chris went to bed early and then I started my painting.  I decided earlier that I wanted to try and paint a sea turtle for Chris.  Here is day #13.

I spent almost two hours on this one.  The time went by very quickly.  I am sure I could probably add more but I need to read up in some different techniques and processes, to accomplish what I would like.  What do you think?  I hope you are enjoying these watercolors.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great night.

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Watercolor, Day #12

Hello,

I hope you had a nice Sunday.  Here is today's project 365, day #12.

A watercolor background tonight.  I see this as a background for another image, although it could stand alone as a pattern to coordinate with another pattern.  I am thinking in fabric terms when I say that.  I like to buy fabrics that have a few patterns/prints that coordinate with each other.

I guess that's it for tonight.  I am pretty tired and did not sleep well at all last night.  Have a great evening and thanks for stopping by!

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Watercolor, Day #11

Hello,

I hope you had a nice day.  I started to take down my Christmas decorations today.  I started in the afternoon and probably still need a good portion of tomorrow to finish.  I love all the lights and decorations and it always looks so empty in the house after I first take them down, that it is kind of sad.  Hannah would like it if I left them up all year long.  : ). Sometimes I feel like I would like that too but I know they wouldn't be as special that way.

We watched the second half of the movie we started yesterday, and then I worked on my project.  Here is day #11, a watercolor.

I did the background first, in two stages, before I did the black blossoms.  With just the background done, Molly and Hannah bot both passed by at different points and said 'Hey, it's Sully".  In case you don't know, he is a character from the movie, Monsters Inc.  I wouldn't have even thought of it unless they pointed it out.  It's fun to see what the girls think about all of my different projects.

That's it for tonight.  Have a great evening and thanks for stopping by.

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Watercolor, Day #10

Hello,

Happy Friday to you.  I hope you had a good day.  Hannah and Alyssa are still sick.   Getting better slowly but I wish it was faster for them.   I am still feeling a little sick but nothing like the girls.  We watched part of a movie tonight and then I worked on my watercolor.  Here is day #10.

I am enjoying working on a pattern for my watercolors.  These ones have been fun to see how they turn out.  I hope you like this new 365 adventure.

That's all for tonight.  Have a great eve in and thanks for stopping by.

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Watercolor, Day #9

Hello,

I hope you had a nice day.  Here is day #9, a watercolor.

I am glad I relaxed and let myself do simple and different watercolors.  I was thinking to confined and strict before.  I think it will be fun to come up with different patterns.  I have wanted to start designing my own fabric, so perhaps this is the start I needed.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great night!

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Watercolor, Day #8

Hello,

I hope you had a good day.  It was a rough day around here so straight on to today's watercolor.  Here is day #8.

I played around with brushing water all over the paper first tonight and then added a design.  It was ok but I decided to add more water and most of the first design washed away.  You can kind of see that image in the background.  I then added more paint and it spread more this time, which is the look I was going for.  I like the way the paint looks when it spreads into the paper.

That's all for tonight.  I hope you have a great night and thanks for stopping by.

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Watercolor, Day #7

Hello,

I hope you had a good day.  Lots of sick people and resting going on here.  I am trying to think simple when I do my watercolors.  Here is day #7, a watercolor.

A pattern watercolor tonight. It is pretty simple but still takes a little time.  I am trying to think a little 'freer' and not feel that the watercolor needs to be a picture.  For some reason I always have a photo like image in my head for the watercolor.  I am definitely not at that level, so it's good not to stress myself out trying to be at that level.  (I just need to remember that : ) )

That's it for me.  I hope you have a great evening and thanks for stopping by.

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Watercolor, Day #6

Hello,

I hope you had a good day.  We ended up getting home at 1am this morning, so today was a day of trying to rest and unpack.  The girls didn't go to school today that would have been to much.  Hannah and Alyssa are still pretty sick though, I am not sure Hannah will make it tomorrow.  I am also feeling run down, hopefully I don't get sick again.

We had a second Christmas tonight with the presents that I left here.  It was nice to have some gifts to open at home as well, with all of our decorations around us.  We all enjoyed the evening.  That is what inspired my painting tonight.  Here is day #6, a watercolor.

I think I would do a better job if I was looking at a photo.  I am just painting from my head and I am not sure I like the results.  I wanted to do watercolors for the challenge but I am not sure about it anymore. I also don't want to give up too soon but I like a medium that I can make a quick project if I need to.

Well that's it for now.  I need to try and catch up on some sleep tonight.  Thanks for stopping by and a have a great evening!

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Day #5

Hello,

I hope you had a good day.   I would love to say today has been a good day for me too.  Today we were traveling home and well, we are not there yet.  We arrived in Orlando's airport at 10am for a 12:30 flight.  Well there are delays all over because of the weather up east.  We finally took off at 8pm.  We are now on the plane in Austin, ready to leave again for our second part home.  It is the same plane as we took here but we needed to deplane because they change the flight crew.  Everyone has been in the same boat as far as delays so all in all most people have been pretty calm and good.  It just makes for an we exhausting day, that's for sure.

I decided I would just draw a butterfly while we were still in Orlando.  I really didn't have the space to break out my watercolors.  So here is today's project 365, #5.

Back to what I am used to, a nice butterfly.

We just landed in Long Beach, and I am just publishing this post quickly now.

Kelly

Project 365, Watercolor, Day #4

Hello,

I hope you had a good day.  We fly home tomorrow, so today was a day of packing.  We were going to go to a park for a little but two of the girls are sick.  They felt so bad because they didn't want to end their last day like that.  It's unfortunate but I just hope they feel better tomorrow because flying is no fun when you are sick.

I have two pictures tonight for my watercolor.  One is a simple watercolor on paper and the other is the plate I had my water on.  I started with the plate design first.  I thought it would be fun to play with a design on the plate.  I did think I was only going to do that tonight but then I decided to try and draw a quick design with the watercolors.  Here is watercolor #4.

The plate pattern looked cooler in person because you can see different levels of the paint in the water.  The swirls are simple but I do love to draw them.

That's it for me, we have to get the bags to the check in point early.  Thanks for stopping by.

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Watercolor, Day #3

Hello,

I hope you had a good day.  Here is watercolor #3.

Today I knew I wanted to work on a pattern.  I was going to work on it before we left for the day but I didn't have time.  When we got home, I was super tired and not sure I could even do a watercolor.  Watercolor is definitely not a quick medium.  I find it hard to just draw a quick image with it and call it done.  Anyways, I still worked on a pattern.  It seems simple enough but yet it took more time then I thought it would.  Blues and greens again because that is what I am drawn to.

That's it for me.  Have a great night.

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Watercolor, Day #2

Hello,

I hope you had a good day.  Today I used a photo I took for inspiration.  That made the watercolor go a little smoother for me.  We were in Animal Kingdom today and I took some great pictures before it started to rain (for the rest of the day).

Here is watercolor #2 and the inspiration photo.

The real photo is a little hard to see because I took the photo with my camera and I don't have a way to transfer my photos while I'm on vacation, so I just snapped a picture of the display screen.  I simplified things a lot but not to bad for my second attempt.

That's all for me tonight.  I am trying to shake a migraine and not having any luck.  Thanks for stopping by and have a great night.

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Watercolor, Day #1

Hello,

Happy New Year!  I hope everyone had a great New Years!  I decided to start again.  I am going to try and do a watercolor everyday.  I am giving myself a little play in that decision though, since I don't know how to watercolor.  That is also the reason for doing it, to see what I can learn from this entire process.  Here is watercolor #1.

I am paying tribute to last years Project 365 Butterflies.  As you can see, not really good at the watercoloring.  I asked for a travel size set for Christmas and I got a nice small set but that also means the brush is tiny, so I found it hard to fill up the paper like I wanted.  I ended up using my fingers a bit also.  Here is a pic of the set next to my sketch pad which is 6" x 9".

Well we shall see where this takes me.  Hopefully you will enjoy this new crazy adventure with me.  Thanks for stopping by.

Take care,
Kelly
