Project 365, Day #304 & Happy Halloween!

Hello,

Happy Halloween to all of you out there who celebrate Halloween!  I loved when the girls were little and dressing up in there costumes!  I made almost all of them.  It was fun to let them pick out what they wanted to be and then see the outfit come to life.  There have been some pretty good ones over the years.  I can't believe how big they are now.  I still like Halloween and putting decorations up.  Unfortunately with the work being done, I couldn't decorate this year.  Next year I hope to have a Halloween party to make for it.  : )

I decided today's butterfly should have a few pumpkins in it.  Here is butterfly #304.

first

second

third

I decided to do a few versions for you.  The top two are my 'type A' butterflies.  I individually placed each candy for the outline.  Then in the second one, I did the same to fill in the wings.  On the third one I decided to just pull out big piles of candy from the bowl, and dump them on the table for the wings.  I just pushed the candy around to get the shape.  So the third one I let loose.  : )  Which one do you like the best?  Fun and easy for today.

I decided to post nice and early today, so I wouldn't worry about getting it done later.  I will leave you with a picture of my girls from 2005.

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!!

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Day #303

Hello,

I hope you had a good day!  I spent the day finishing my projects for Stamp Academy.  I finished the projects and designs, I just need to type up the directions.  Of course for me, that is my least favorite part, I suppose because it can be very time consuming.  That was the bulk of my day.  While I was in the studio, I decided to do my butterfly out there.  Here is butterfly #303.

Another spider web tonight.  I dry embossed Basic Black card stock with a web embossing folder.  I then hand cut the wings.  I embossed the Pumpkin Pie card stock with a star burst embossing folder and then punched out little circles to form the body.  I distressed the card base by sponging Whisper White craft ink on the card stock.  I also brushed the craft ink along the raised edges of the web design on the wings.  A little ticket punch greeting, and the card is complete.

I hope you enjoy this card.  That's all for me tonight.  Thanks for stopping by and have a great evening.

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Day #302

Hello again,

It has been quite the day here.  My appliances came today.  I should be saying yeah, but alas there were more problems.  Only two items are installed, they are still working on the third item and it's 6pm.  The other three that need to go in, can't.  I won't know until tomorrow how long it will take for the piece that wasn't order, to arrive.  So another adventure in the land of remodel.  : )

I spent the day on the computer to try and work on different business items, and the computer is close to the kitchen, so I was available for the workers if they needed me.  I am trying to set up an automated email system.  It is slow going for me because I am trying to figure different ideas and incentives out.  I did get a good portion done.  I also worked on my Tuesday Tidbits post and email, which always takes longer than I think it will.  Once I finished it though I sat down to draw.  Here is butterfly #302.

I am doing the web theme again because I will probably only use it for another two days and then move on.  I decided to add a little spider to this web composition.

That's all for me for now.  The are still trying to figure out my cooktop and it is not going well.

Have a great night and thanks for stopping by.

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Day #301

Hello,

I hope you had a good day.  It was a cold rainy day here.  It just made me want a nice warm home cooked meal.  Well, once I get my mind set on something, forget it.  I decided I would make chili.  I went to the storage unit to find a frying pan, then to the grocery store and then back home.  I put charcoal in the Weber grill and lighted it up.  It took three rounds of cooking, to brown up the ground buffalo, turkey sausage and then my onions and peppers.  After they were done, I put them all in a crock pot with the rest of the ingredients.  The entire adventure took 2 1/2 hours to get it all done but it was so worth it.  The girls came home from school wondering what the smell was.  They couldn't wait for dinner.  It was so nice to have a hearty home cooked meal.  Of course I made enough for two days worth, so yeah, dinner for tomorrow is done.

After dinner I decided to draw, but nothing was coming to me.  I sketched around on a piece of paper an idea I had, but it wasn't working out.  Another idea came to me and I thought I would just try it out on top of the other 'scrap' paper but I decided I liked it just like that.  Here is butterfly #201.

So it is a bit strange looking but I liked all the background butterflies.  I was trying to make a butterfly in a cursive, handwriting type style.  They just didn't seem to work out by themselves though.   Once I added the larger butterfly, I really liked the little ones as a background.  It is a messy, chaotic butterfly, but I like it.

That's all for me tonight.  Thanks for stopping by and have a great night!

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Day #300

Hello,

I hope you are having a nice Sunday.  It has been a good day so far.  The tile guys wanted to come back today and work but I said no.  As much as I want it done, I need to have one day off where I don't have to worry about other people around the house.  You just can't relax and Sunday should be a day of family time and relaxing.  I am working in the studio today, finishing up the rest of my projects for Stamp Academy.  These ones are winter themed.  While I was working on them I decided to make a card today.  Here is butterfly #300.

Wouldn't this make a nice anniversary card or just a special card to tell someone you love them?  It is using my favorite color Pool Party for the embossed background.  It also uses some new items from the Holiday catalog.
Supplies:

Whisper White Card Stock #100730Basic
Black Card Stock #121045
Subtles Core'dinations (Pool Party) Card Stock #129954
Foil Sheets, Silver #132178   Holiday Catalog
Beautiful Butterflies Bigz Die #114507
Expressions Thinlits Dies #132171   Holiday Catalog
Pretty Print Textured Impressions Embossing Folder #132175   Holiday Catalog
Big Shot #113439
Candy Dots Neutrals #130934
Rhinestone Basic Jewels #119247
Silver 1/8" Ribbon #132150   Holiday Catalog
Stampin' Dimensional #104430
Glue Dots #103683
Snail Adhesive #104332

I hope you like all the little details in this card.  The new silver ribbon is really pretty in person.  I also like the new foil sheets.  They are smooth and have a beautiful sheen to them.  I chose to sand them a bit to add a distressed look to the butterflies.

Well day 300 is completed.  I honestly can't believe it!  I feel like I should have done something with a bang, but I actually didn't remember it was day 300 until I went to post today.  Thank you for following along on this journey.  I have enjoyed it so far and I hope you have to!

Enjoy the rest of your day and thanks for stopping by!

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Day #299

Hello,

I hope you had a good day.  We had workers here all day.  More is getting done but there is still a lot to be done.  I am very tired of the entire process now.  I am looking forward to cooking, just not unpacking all the boxes.  : )  On to tonight's butterfly.  Here is butterfly # 299.

This is one of the butterflies I am not sure about and after loading it up, I am still not sure about it.  I liked the body and the the outside of the wings.  I added the middle to the wings and I don't like it as much.   It's ok though because I do have my butterfly done for tonight.  It is a learning process, and like I have said before, I really am trying not to start over.    So, that's it for me tonight.  I hope you have a great Sunday!  Thanks for stopping by.

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Day #298

Hello,

Happy Friday to you.  I hope you had a good day.  It was a long day for me and we just got home from the high school production of Spamalot.  They did a good job on the show.  I got home and still needed to draw my butterfly, so this is what I have for you tonight.  Here is butterfly #298.

This is the best I have at 11pm.  Sometimes they look better to me once I see them on the computer and this is one of them.  Not to detailed but I didn't think I liked it on the paper.  I don't mind it so much now.

That's all for me tonight.  I need to get some sleep.  I have workers coming tomorrow at 8am, so no sleeping in tomorrow.  Thanks for stopping by!

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Day #297

Hello,

I hope you had a good day.  Lots of the same for me today.  I wish I had more interesting news but not so much for me.   I tried to get some work done on the computer since I was stuck in that area of the house.  A got a little done but most of it was research and trying to figure out how some of these things work.  Computers are not my strong point, and I usually end up spending way to much time on it.

I decided to draw my butterfly before dinner.  Here is butterfly #297.

I wanted to do something a little different.  I am trying to think outside the box, but sometimes I don't stray very far from it.  : )   I do like the way this came out and the texture in the wings.  I went back to the basic black and pumpkin pie markers, I just really love the combo.

That's it for me tonight.  I hope you have a great evening!

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Day #296

Hello,

I hope you had a good day.  I was busy with the house remodel today.  A few more problems, which are almost turning comical now, almost.  A little work, errands and the day is gone.  On to my drawing.
Here is butterfly #296.

Back to my Halloween theme for today.  I wanted to keep it loose and open.  A pretty simple design for tonight.

That's all I have for you tonight.  I am really tired, I was up at 4:45am, and I am definitely feeling it now. Thanks for stopping by and have a good night.

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Day #295

Hello,

I hope you had a good day.  If I told you all the problems I had today with my construction work, you would think I was making them up, that's the kind of day I had.  So on to my butterfly.  Here is butterfly #295.

A really simple drawing tonight.  I couldn't seem to focus or find inspiration.  That will be all for me tonight.  Have a great evening and thanks for stopping by.

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Day #294

Hello,

I hope you are having a good day.  My countertops are being installed today.  Yeah!  There was a bit of stress in the morning though.  I was never told the cooktop needed to be here for the installation.  So after a few phone calls, Chris drove an hour each way to go and pick it up.  Of course this is frustrating because we have had three weeks to have it here, if we would have know.

I have been trying to work but it has been hard with the noise and smell.  I have had a migraine all day and it gets worse every time I smell the solvent smell.  I have allergies and always had a problem with powerful smells like that.  I have been trying to go outside and get some fresh air as much as I can.

I decided I would draw my butterfly today.  Here is butterfly #294.

A stipple butterfly for you tonight.  I was thinking I was going to draw a quick one because the way I was feeling but I decided I really wanted to do a stipple one again.

That's all for me.  I still need to figure out what is for dinner and I have to pick Molly up from school.  Thanks for stopping by and have a great evening!

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Day #293

Hello,

I hope you had a good weekend.  We had a pretty good one.  The show last night was really good.  If you like Alton Brown, I highly recommend his live show.  Molly really enjoyed it and was inspired.  She can't wait for the kitchen to be finished to start cooking.  Alyssa's birthday is Wednesday, so I am getting a box together for her, so I can ship it out tomorrow.  I made her card with a few butterflies fo course.  Here is butterfly #293.

Alyssa is going to art school, so I wanted to make her a little artist palette.  She does more digital work than traditional painting but I think the artist palette represents all artists.  I like the colorful butterflies for the paint colors.  I used our White Stampin' Chalk Marker to write on the Basic Black card stock.  It writes so nice and looks like chalk on a chalk board.  I like it much more then the white gel pens.  Those always seem to clog up and stop writing.  The chalk pen writes just as smooth as writing with a marker.  It is a pretty simple card with a fun little pop of color.

Supplies:

Rich Razzleberry Card Stock #115316
Very Vanilla Card Stock #101650
Basic Black Card Stock #121045
Simply Scored Scoring Tool #122334
Ovals Collection Framelits #129381
Big Shot #113439
Bitty Butterfly Punch #129406
Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack #118309
White Stampin' Chalk Marker #132133
Stampin' Dimensional #104430
Glue Dots #103683
Snail Adhesive #104332
That's all for tonight.  Have a great evening and thanks for stopping by.
Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Day #292

Hello,

I hope you are having a good Saturday.  I got my odd jobs done for the house early and then went to work in the studio.  I ended up working all day on a new clutch design.  I wanted to make one that didn't have the metal frame.  I finished the design, made a pattern and then made a sample.  It still needs a little tweaking but for the most part it is a pretty good.  Here is the new handheld clutch.

What do you think?  This one has a flap with a magnetic closure.  I still made it so it has a flat bottom and can stand up by itself.  I decided to add a butterfly to this clutch, so I could complete my butterfly for the day as well.  Here is butterfly #292.

A close up of the little butterfly.  It is six layers of fabric stitched together.  I decided to bead the center of the body.  There is one row of size 11 seed beads, surrounded by size 15 seed beads.  I hope you like this butterfly and the new clutch.

That's all for me.  We gave Molly tickets to Alton Brown, from the food network, for her birthday.  The show is tonight.  She wants to be a chef, and enjoys watching Alton Brown and many of his shows.  I am not sure what this live show will be like, but hopefully she will enjoy it.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great evening.

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Day #291

Hello,

I hope you are having a good Friday.  The weekend is here!  I would love to say it will be a relaxing weekend but I know I have so much to do.  : )  I have been putting off some of the painting and touch ups I needed to do because I knew the countertops were delayed.  I wanted to focus on some other things.  Now that they will be installed on Monday, I need to get those items done.

I went out to clean up the studio a bit from my card making the last few days, (I am a very messy worker).   I decided to do up another card again for my butterfly.  Here is butterfly #291.

This is a quick, clean and simple card.  It uses washi tape to make the background on the card base.  Simple stamping to make the greeting and coordinating punches to make the greeting pop.  A few color on color butterflies for a little pop and decoration.  This card is actually the second card I made.  The first one started with the black and orange color scheme again.  I tried adding basic black butterflies to it, but it just wasn't working for me.  Here is my first card.

So you can see the exact same layout.  The greeting backing is also using the same stamp set and coordinating punch.   Actually the little punch bats are also using the Bitty Butterfly punch.  I just folded the little butterflies in half and cut little curves in the bottom of the wings.  It was really easy to do and the inspiration came from the greeting stamp.  These little bats, look just like the one in the stamped image.

This is a fun simple card and easy to duplicate for any occasion, as you can see.  I wasn't sure I would like working with the Washi Tape but it is really fun and so easy to use.  It goes on easy and you just tear off a piece with your fingers.

This definitely would be a nice quick card to make multiples of.  I think I should go and make a few more up, especially the thank you, and maybe some birthday's as well.

That's all for me today.  Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Day #290

Hello!

I hope you are having a good day.  It was a crazy busy day for me.  Today is Molly's birthday!!  I can't believe my youngest is 14.  Crazy.  Well you might remember I told you she really wanted a cake from me.  Unfortunately the kitchen is not done, so she will have to wait on one of my cakes.  I did let her pick out a cake for tonight and she chose a cheesecake.  I'm sure it will be yummy.

Unfortunately Hannah is still sick and we are not able to do our family dinner.  I always let the kids pick their favorite restaurant for their birthday dinners.  Of course if they prefer me to cook, I do that as well.  Hannah said she didn't mind if we went out but Molly said she wanted to wait for Hannah to get better.  So nice.

I made Molly's birthday card and incorporated my butterflies.  Here is butterfly #290.

Did you guess it would be the same type of card as the last two days?  If you have been following me, you might have figured out that if I get to play with something new, I like to use it for a few days.  It's fun and fresh and the ideas usually flow in the beginning.

I used the same supplies as the last two days as well.  I added one element to the center.  I cut out the center again and attached it using thread to have it flip again when the card opens.  I tried to get the pictures to show how the card works but it was a little difficult.

That's all for tonight.  I am off to pick up dinner and then we can enjoy family time and give Molly her cake and presents.  Thanks for stopping by.

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Day #289

Hello,

I hope you had a good day.  I finally went to Home Depot and got some more things I needed for the remodel.  I also finished the top coat on the venetian plaster wall in the living room.  I got a call today confirming the countertops will be installed on Monday the 21st.  That was good to hear because no work has been going on for two weeks and I really am ready for this to be done.

Hannah did make it to her PSAT but did not feel well at all.  She thinks she did horrible but we will see, I am not worried about it.   It was just good for her to see what the test would be like.

Tonight I decided to go out and make a card again.  Here is butterfly #289.

I used a lot of the same elements as yesterday.  I made this card a  little simpler by just using the one layer of Whisper White card stock.  I added a little bit of background stamping using the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set.  I added the greeting to the center front of the card tonight.  You can see when you open the card, the greeting flips to the back and the center just has the background stamping.  The butterflies are fun little accents.  I added orange glitter to two of the Basic Black butterflies to give them a little bling.

Supplies:
Gorgeous Grunge Stamp Set #130517(c), #130514(w)
Yippee-Skippee! Stamp Set #131344(c), #131341(w)
Pumpkin Pie Card Stock #105117
Very Vanilla Card Stock #101650
Basic Black Card Stock #121045
Witches' Brew Designer Series Paper #132185
Label Card Thinlits Die #133479
Labels Collection Framelits #125598
Big Shot #113439
Beautiful Wings Embosslits #118138
Black and Orange Stampin' Glitter #132206
Stampin' Dimensional #104430
Glue Dots #103683
Snail Adhesive #104332

I hope you enjoyed this card.  This one went together pretty quick, especially compared to yesterdays.  I think yesterdays took so long because it was the first day I was using the new dies and I play around for a bit to see all kinds of ideas and options I can come up with before I can actually commit to something.

That's all for now.  Have a great evening and thanks for stopping by.

Take care,
Kelly
