Project 365, Day #212

Hello,

I hope you had a good day!  I had a good day and got to see more family today. Actually we are all still hanging out and chatting and telling old stories.  It is a fun time.  I just drew a butterfly quick so I can get my post done, while sitting here with the family.  Here is butterfly #212.

A quick sketch for you.  Molly did a butterfly as well.  She actually made hers first, here is Molly's butterfly.

She made her butterfly out of butterflies.  Isn't it great!  She is so cute.  Well that's all for me tonight.  Going to hang with the family some more.

Thanks for stopping by!

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Day #211

Hello,

I hope you had a good day. We arrived in Syracuse just fine. I have been up since yesterday morning and I am a bit tired but sort of have a second wind now, crazy. It is nice to see my family again. I haven't seen everyone yet but looking forward to catching up with more family tomorrow . Tonight I drew a butterfly on my iPad program again. Here is butterfly #211.

A few different layers but still a simple design. That's all for me tonight. I really need to get some sleep tonight. I am not guaranteeing anything, but fingers crossed. : )

Thanks for stopping by and alive a great night!

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Day #210

Hello,

I hope you had a good day. To say my day was busy would be an understatement. I don't need to go into details. I am sitting here at the airport and almost forgot to do my butterfly. I have about 30 minutes and sometimes getting the post to actually 'post' can be a problem.  Once I land it will be tomorrow, so I need to get it done.  So, I did a really quick sketch on my drawing program. Here is butterfly #210.

Really simple! I just want to make sure this posts, so I am signing off. Thanks for stopping by and I will see you tomorrow from New York.

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Day #209

Hello,

I hope you had a good Sunday.  There sure is not enough hours in the day.  Of course if there were more, I am sure I would use them up and say the same thing.  It has been a tough week here but still so much to do.  We leave tomorrow for a family vacation, I had a reorder of 10 flip wallets, plus a custom order clutch to do.  I am finding it hard to get everything done plus all the packing, laundry and etc.  Well, I was just sewing the wallets and this idea popped into my head.  Here is butterfly #209.

It is my pin cushion I made.  I pulled out all the pins and put some back in to make the butterfly.  I just saw it sitting on my table and thought I could make a butterfly quick.  Not sure how I got that idea, but it worked.

I wanted to share one more picture of Cody and the girls.  We sure miss him, look how cute he is with the girls.

That's all for tonight.  Have to go sew.  Thanks for stopping by!

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Day #208

Hello,

I hope you had a good start to your weekend.  It was getting pretty late tonight, so I decided to draw direct to paper with two markers.  Here is butterfly #208.

I used Raspberry Ripple and Primose Petals markers.  Two complimentary colors, which might be a little hard to see the difference in the scan though.  A simple drawing again but it's always interesting to see what I can come up with.  It really is a challenge to start drawing with the markers and not let myself start over.  That's all for tonight.

Have a great Sunday and thanks for stopping by!

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Day #207

Hello,

I hope you had a good Friday.

Here is butterfly #207.

This is my butterfly for Cody tonight.

Thanks for stopping by and have a good evening.

Project 365, Day #206

Hello,

I hope you had a good day.  I decided to put a few stamp sets I received at convention together and make a card.  Here is butterfly #206.

This is a one layer card.  One piece of Whisper White folded in half.  If you have been following me, you know I am a layers girl.  I didn't think I could just use one piece and be happy with it.  I have tried before, but I usually don't like them as much.  I am very happy with this card.  I do have layers in the greeting, but just two.  It is pretty simple.  I stamped with my new free set Gorgeous Grunge, to create the background.  The greeting is from Yippee-Skippee!, also a free set from convention.  If you want any more details about the inks and such just let me know.

This is a great card for anyone.  I had Cody boy in mind when I made this.  Tomorrow will be tough.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great night.

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Day #205

Hello,

I hope you had a good day.  It was a very busy day for me.  Lots of work to do for our home improvement projects.  I also have a bit of bad news.  We have to put down one of our dogs, Cody.  I don't remember how much I have told you about him.  He was diagnosed with cancer in March of 2012.  The tumor was in his left front leg.  We chose to remove his leg and he had treatment.  He did so well and at times was acting like a puppy again.  It really is amazing how he adjusted.  About two months ago he went in for one of his follow-ups and the cancer was in his lungs.  That is the normal progression for this type.  Well, now it is time for him to go, so he doesn't have to go through to much pain.  He is already coughing and does not have that much energy.  Of course the guy never complains about anything, so it makes it even harder.  He still wags his tail and won't let go of the ball when he is playing on the floor.  The vet does say he did very well for the type of cancer he had.  Of course we are all a mess.  He is scheduled to go in on Friday.  I am telling you all now because I know on Friday, I won't be able to write about it.  Here is a picture of our boys.  Cody is in the front and Seamus is in the back.  Just hanging out waiting for their food.

On to tonight's butterfly.  A quick color sketch.  Here is butterfly #205.

I used Pool Party and Wisteria Wonder markers.  Once again I just drew directly to the paper, no erasing or changing my mind.  Sometimes that is hard to do, because I would like to start over.  I keep going though and work with what I have.

That's all for me tonight.  Have a great evening and thanks for stopping by.

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Day # 204

Hello,

I hope you had a good day.  I had a long day today and a lot is going.  I decided to draw a quick sketch again tonight for my butterfly.  Here is butterfly #204.

I used Midnight Muse and Gumball Green markers.  I like the multiple layers of lines.  I think I will focus on those sort of illustrations.  They really appeal to me.  The proportion of the wings looks a little off to me, but sometimes I don't notice these things until I have them on the screen.  I also just drew direct to paper, so no changing.

That's all for me tonight.  I am pretty tired and I am off to bed.  Have a great evening!

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Day #203

Hello,

I hope you had a good Monday.  Today was back to the typical Monday for me, busy doing the chores and running around.  I already miss my time off and the two leisure lunches I had.  Convention was very busy but it was also nice not to worry about the cleaning and laundry and such.  Back to reality as they say.  : )

I decided to draw my butterfly tonight using a sharpie and piece of paper.  Here is butterfly #203.

I just drew straight to the paper with the sharpie tonight.  I am pretty tired so I wanted to make myself just draw and be happy with the outcome,  which I am.  It's funny, it actually seemed so easy to draw with the sharpie, because I have been drawing with the stylus on the iPad.  They definitely have a different feel.  I am much more comfortable with the traditional form.  I think if I can get a stylus with a finer tip, that may help the process.

That's it for me tonight.  I hope you have a great evening and thanks for stopping by.

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Day #202

Hello,

An early morning post for me today. I got to the airport 2 hours early and the lines were a breeze. Usually the lines are quite long to get through security. It was a short line which was nice. That left me a lot of time to sit here and draw. The flight was also delayed, so even more time. Here is butterfly #202.

This one has six layers and multiple colors. Still trying to figure out how to blend colors to achieve the look I want. It is an interesting process. I think I need a little training from my daughter Alyssa . That's all for now. I am really tired this morning : ). Definitely need to catch up on some sleep when I get home, I hope that's possible.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Day #201

Hello,

I hope you had a nice Saturday. Today was the last day of convention and it was a full day. We started at 9am and ended around 6pm. There wasn't a break today, so I didn't have my long lunch. I didn't have the opportunity to work on my butterfly until now. I went to dinner with some old friends, which was great, and then checked in with Chris and the girls. I still need to pack, so I have a quick sketch for you tonight. Here is butterfly #201.

One layer, one brush and one color for this one. Super simple. I forgot to sign the other two drawings I did on the computer. It is not natural for me to sign on the computer, so I totally forgot. Alyssa actual pointed it out to me. I am glad she did, so I signed this one.

I have some more to share about convention but just don't have the time tonight. I have to finish packing and need to be up at 5am. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your evening.

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Day # 200

Hello!

I hope you are having a good day! Wow, I can't believe that it is day 200. It doesn't seem possible! I feel like I should be doing an extra special butterfly for tonight. Since I am still at convention, I can't make a card or put 200 punched butterflies on a project. Of course that would be insane but I probably would have attempted it if I was home. : ). I am sitting here enjoying my dinner and drawing on my iPad again. I am enjoying the lazy two hour dinners where I get to have people wait on me. Here is what I came up with tonight. Here is butterfly #200. Drumroll......

Ok, maybe it wasn't a drumroll moment, but 200 days of making butterflies is a big deal. This butterfly has 5 different layers. Which unless you know photoshop or other drawing programs it might not make sense. What it is basically, is that you can start a new layer and draw without disturbing the layer below. That way if you make a mistake, you don't ruin your entire project. It's pretty interesting and like I said a learning project.

So that's what I have for you tonight. I need to finish up and get ready to go to the awards ceremony. Have a great evening and thanks for stopping by!

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Day #199

Hello,

Hope you are having a good day today. Today I really didn't need to leave the room until 11:30 or so. I didn't sleep well so I hung out in bed until 8:30. I was up at 5:30 but just kept dozing in and out after that. I got up and worked on my swaps some more. I had lots of little layers, so they take a while to put all the dimensionals on and layer them on the cards. (They always take longer then I think they are going to take.)

I got ready and headed to the convention center. The first session starts at 5:30pm but I had meet and greets. I did a little swapping as well. They don't last long when you only make 30 and there are 6000 ladies here. I hung around there for a couple hours and then stopped for a late lunch. I am enjoying a beer and blackened tilapia salad. It is delicious! While sitting at the bar I decided to draw my butterfly on my iPad. We are done at 10pm tonight , so I wanted to make sure I got it done.

Here is butterfly #199.

My second attempt with my drawing program. Let me know what you think.  I know what I would like to make them look like, it's just learning the program.

Well I wrote the first part of this post at my late lunch, 2:30-4:00pm.  I didn't have time to post it then.  It is now 8:49 and I am sitting waiting for some lines to go down in our opening social.  It is a big area where they have demonstration booths, product displays and service projects.  One thing they are trying to do is break the world record for most cards mailed from a single location.  Well I have my card, but the line to turn it in snakes throughout the entire 'social' area.  There are 6000 ladies again trying to do a lot of the same stuff.  It is hard to get close to the demonstrations and displays as well.  I am hoping it will slow down, but not sure about that.

So here I sit.  I got to finish my post to all of you though, so that is a plus.  I think that's it for me for tonight.  I am going to try and go back in, I'll let you know how it goes.

Thanks for stopping by!

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Day #198

Hello again,

Here is my first butterfly drawn with my new program for the iPad.  Here is butterfly #198.

I probably spent a couple hours total on this one. Lots of playing around, testing the different brushes and using different layers. I hope you enjoy this first attempt. I still need to finish my swaps now. Thanks for stopping by again! Have a great evening!

Take care,
Kelly

Arriving In Salt Lake City

Hello there,

I hope you are having a good day!  Today I traveled to Salt Lake City for the Stampin' Up! Convention.  So far it has been eventful travels.  It started with the woman who sat next to me on the plane, had a toddler on her lap.  Maybe he was under a year but it was hard to tell.  It was a small plane, because it was a short flight.  Well the poor little guy got sick, early on in the flight.  I helped as much as I could, calling the flight attendant and handing her paper towels, but not much else could be done.  The only hard thing the rest of the trip was the smell.  It was strong of course, and oh how I remembered those days.

We landed fine and got to the hotel fine.  I have a room with a door to the outside.  I guess I didn't realize that when I booked it.  It is a nicer hotel and it got great reviews from other demonstrators, I just feel safer now a days with rooms inside a building.  Anyways, another thing is the WiFi doesn't work right and that's one of the things I look for when I book a room.  They also said it doesn't work with iPads, which seems crazy to me.  Of course I only brought my iPad to save space.  Just a little frustrating.

In the grand scheme of things though, these are just little bumps to make you a little crazy but not really important.

I had Alyssa, my daughter the artist, research apps for the iPad, so I could have a good drawing program.  I played with it a little bit on the plane.  There is lots to learn but also lots of fun.  I am going to try and make some of my butterflies this week with the program.  I thought it would be easier to do while I am traveling, so we'll see.

I am sitting here in the hotel lounge just relaxing for a bit.  I need to go back to my room and finish my swaps and work on my butterfly.  I will post my butterfly later tonight.  I just wanted to do a little update on my travels so far.

Thanks for stopping by and see you later.

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Day #197

Hello,

I hope you had a good day.  I was very busy trying to get everything ready for my trip tomorrow.  I still have a few things to do.  I almost forgot about my butterfly tonight.  I am really tired and I just didn't think of it today but I am glad I did remember.  Here is butterfly #197.

Just a quick drawing tonight.  I didn't have a lot of energy but I still like the way this turned out.

That's all for me, I need to hit the hay.  Tomorrow I will be talking to you from Salt Lake City.  Hopefully I can get everything worked out to post my butterflies.  Thanks for stopping by!

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Day #196

Hello,

I hope you had a good Monday.  My typical Monday of bills and running around.  I still have a lot to do to get ready for my convention, so here is butterfly #196.

I got the king size markers out tonight.  I did draw with a pencil first for this one.  I wanted to use two colors and have the red just as the background.  A simple butterfly but I like the simplicity.

That's all for me tonight.  I have to go work in the studio some more.  Have a great evening.

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Day #195

Hello,

I hope you had a good weekend.  Today we did some much needed yard work.  The weeds were a little to tall.  We also ripped off the shrubs that grow over our side wall.  That wall faces a city street and we get notices from the city to trim them back because they hang to low.  I don't know what kind of shrubs they are but they intertwine like vines and get very thick.  It is a lot of work just to trim them.  We do plan on getting the yard landscaped, so we just decided to rip them off.  It was a lot of work and my arms are all scraped up, but I am so glad it's done.

I also got to work in the studio a bit.  I finished some of the things I was working on for convention.  I don't know if I mentioned that yet but I am going to the Stampin' Up! convention on Wednesday.  I usually make something (sewing wise), especially since they had fabric.  Of course in the new catalog we don't have any fabric, but that's ok.  I also make swap cards and exchange them with other demonstrators.  I wasn't going to make any this year but I decided to make a few still.

After all of that, I decided to draw my butterfly tonight.  Here is butterfly #195.

I drew with a pencil tonight and just outlined with a fine tip sharpie.  I needed a change of pace from the king size sharpie.  I do like the way this one turned out and I like the lines in this one.  Here are the items I finished for convention.

I used a orange faux/vegan suede for the clutch and flip wallet.  All the trims are from Stampin' Up!.  Although I didn't take a picture of the inside, the inside fabric of the clutch is also from Stampin' Up! They are nice summer colors.

That's all for me.  Thanks for stopping by and have a great day tomorrow.

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Day #194

Hello,

I hope you had a good Saturday!  I spent the day in the studio/garage.  I was cleaning and organizing in the morning.  I still needed to put things away from when the beer exploded.  I got a fair amount done.  In the afternoon I worked on a new purse and flip wallet.  For tonight I decided to draw again.  Here is butterfly #194.

I drew with a pencil first this time and then outlined with the marker.  I like the king size marker because it inks up so nicely.

That's all for me for tonight.  Have a great evening and great day tomorrow.

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Day #193

Hello,

I hope you had a good Friday.  Yeah!  It's the weekend.  I'm looking forward to the weekend and getting some work done and relaxing too.  It will be nice to not have different people show up everyday.  Chris said today he's done.  We are not even a week in and he is already gone.  (Meaning he wishes the project was over.)  Of course I would like it to be done but I know it is still a long haul.

On to today's butterfly.  I decided to draw straight to the paper with the marker today to see what I could come up with.  Here is butterfly #193.

I still like the boldness of it, just not the design as much.  Once you put the marker down, there is no going back.  I am using one of those king size sharpies, so it is a little trickier.  This is definitely a learning process and it will be nice to see what I come up with, while learning.

That's all for me tonight.  Have a great weekend!

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Day #192

Hello,

I hope you had a good day.  Today the workers finished gutting the rooms and phase 1 is done.  I'm not sure how many phases there are, but it's a start.  Tomorrow the project manager and engineer come and we get to see what work really needs to be done behind the walls.

I tried to finish my butterfly early tonight, so hopefully I can get to bed early and have a good nights sleep.  I haven't been sleeping well and I am in need of a little sleep.  : )  Here is butterfly #192.

I drew the butterfly in pencil tonight.  I knew I wanted to ink it up and actually fill in spaces.  It really makes an impact with the filled in spaces.  I do like the way this one turned out.  It takes a little longer, but it is worth it.  I will try some more like this.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great evening!

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Day #191

Hello,

I hope you had a good day.  They worked on the kitchen some more and started on the bath.  It is pretty weird to see the bare walls.  The bathroom is just in the beginning stages.  It is a lot more work, because everything is still from the original build.  The shower is put together with what looks like chicken wire and a lot of cement.  It is very thick and taking them a long time to tear down.   I am glad we didn't decide to do it ourselves.  (That would have been scary)  I will try and remember to take pictures in the morning, because there are no lights left in the rooms, so I can't take pictures now.

On to tonight's butterfly.  My studio/garage was covered with plastic all day while they were working on the bathroom.  I decided to draw again tonight.  Here is butterfly #191.

I just decided to draw with a pen again.  Lots of lines and no erasing.    I like using waves in my designs and this is my butterfly full of waves.  It's kind of an odd shape looking at it now, but I still like it.

That's all for tonight for me.  I hope you have a good night.  Thanks for stopping by.

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Day #190

Hello,

I hope you had a good day.  Today they started on my kitchen.  They got most of it torn out.  They still need to take down the ceiling and a corner closet that backs into the kitchen.  It's amazing how much bigger the room looks without everything in it.   : )  It is going to be quite the process because once the walls come down, you can really see how things were put together.  I am no expert, but some things don't look right.  We'll see what happens once the plumber and electrician take a look.

Tonight I decided to draw a butterfly while we were watching So You Think You Can Dance.  Did I tell you before that is one of my favorite shows?  I can't remember, which is not surprising.  Anyways, I really love to watch the dancing.  Here is what I came up with for tonight.  Here is butterfly #190.

I just drew directly to the paper with a pen.  No sketching and then erasing this time.  A simple design still but a little different from the past butterflies.  Sometimes I feel I am drawing the same thing.  Of course I can't remember them all, I would have to flip through them again and I am definitely not that organized  : ).  I hope you like the butterfly for tonight.  Have a great evening!

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Day #189

Hello,

I hope you had a good day.  I am exhausted from mine, so on to my butterfly.  Here is butterfly #189.

I am really loving this years In Colors.  I can't seem to stop using them.  They are really fresh and inviting.  I hope you like this card and if you have any questions, just let me know.  Thanks for stopping by and have a great night!

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Day #188

Hello,

I hope you had a good weekend.  I am just about done cleaning out the kitchen and bathroom.  They were not 100% sure if they were starting tomorrow, but they thought they would start the prep work.  So here are a few pics of the kitchen and dining area.

Seamus is hanging out on the dining room rug and I think he likes not having to go under the table to get to it.

Cody has his usual spot on the living room rug, however the room is a bit more crowded now.  This is my sort of kitchen space.  Just trying to keep a few of the necessities.  I will keep you posted on how the work goes.  It is going to be a long few months but I am excited to see the end result.

On to tonight's butterfly.  I had to clean a little more in the studio, so I did a card again for tonight.  Here is butterfly #188.

I used the same colors from yesterday as well as the same stamp set.  This is a 3" x 3"card.  I like having this size on hand and I think they are fun to make.  I kept this one simple and without a greeting, so one could be added at any time.

That's it for me for tonight.  I still have a little more work to do before bed.  Thanks for stopping by!

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Day #187

Hello,

I hope you had a good Saturday.   I had a very busy day of packing up more boxes and trying to get everything set for Monday.  It's very exhausting and I don't have the energy or strength that I used to, which is a bummer.  : (   Anyways, I knew I wanted to spend a little time in the studio to make a card after last nights almost miss.  So here is butterfly #187.

A little distressing, new stamp set and new card stock colors.  I hope you enjoy this card.  Thanks for stopping by!

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Day #186

Hello,

This will be a really quick post.  I was actually in bed and almost asleep and I remembered I didn't do my butterfly yet.  I couldn't believe I almost forgot.  I did a quick drawing and took a picture.  Here is butterfly #186.

I grabbed a sharpie and drew this.  I had fine lines at first and then drew some thicker ones.  Although I like all the fine lines, you just couldn't see them that well.  That's it for me.  I am glad I remembered at the last minute and got it done.

Have a great weekend!

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Day #185

Happy 4th of July!

I hope everyone had a great day!!!  Today I still needed to work on packing things up to get ready for our work that's being done.  Chris moved some beers that he had brewed with the dad's, for father's day, to the garage.  They were being stored elsewhere and had to be moved.  After packing, I was working on some invitations and then I heard a 'pop'.  Well sure enough one of the beers exploded in the case.  They were the big bottles, so it was a lot of beer.  I ran to get Chris and I didn't even realize how far the beer had traveled through the case.  It ran all the way down the garage and into my studio space and under all my wood furniture.  It was a mess for sure.  It took a couple hours of moving things and trying to clean it all up.  While Chris was rinsing off the other bottles in the kitchen, another one blew open, all over the kitchen.  It was a crazy mess.  The girls found it quite comical for some reason.  : )  Well, it was another hour in the kitchen to clean up all the beer and broken glass.  Chris ended up opening all the beers and dumping them because we didn't want any more to burst.  That was my exciting afternoon.

Our city just legalized fireworks last year, so we have quite the display right in our neighborhood.  We just set up our lawn chairs out front and we are good.  It's pretty cool to not have to go anywhere.  I just finished watching what I could and ran into the the studio to make today's butterfly.  I already had an idea in my head earlier, so it was pretty quick to put together.  Here is butterfly #185.

A nice little patriotic butterfly.  I dry embossed the Night of Navy butterfly with the stripes embossing folder and the Real Red butterfly with our star burst embossing folder.  Basic Rhinestones are added to the center for a little bling and sparkle.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you had a great day!

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Day #184

Hello,

I hope you had a good day.  I got to teach a cake decorating class again today, which was fun.  They are all high school students and it's fun to see what the kids create after I teach the class.  Tonight I went in the studio and worked after dinner.  I have card for you tonight.  Here is butterfly #184.

Fun new colors from the new catalog.  I popped the top of the wings off with dimensionals.  You can't tell as much from straight on but from the side, it is a cool accent.

That's all for me for tonight.  Have a great fourth of July tomorrow!  Enjoy your day and I'll see you tomorrow.  Thanks for stopping by.

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Day #183

Hello,

Today I was working on projects for Stamp Academy.  I finished four of the six I need to do and sent those off.  Today's butterfly is a sneak peak of one of the projects.  Here is butterfly #183.

I made another bag using Designer Series Paper.  It is uses a few items from the new catalog.  The Quatrefancy Specialty paper, Chalk Talk stamp set and Pumpkin Pie 3/4" Chevron Ribbon.  Lots of fun new items.  This bag will be shown on Stamp Academy.  Each item comes with a complete PDF document, that includes directions, as well as the recipes.  There is also a video of each item, so you can follow along and see how each item is made.  I like that part, because I am a visual learner.  Directions are nice but if I can watch someone make something, it seems to stick a lot longer.

That's all for tonight.  I hope you had a great day, thanks for stopping by!

Take care,
Kelly

Project 356, Day #182

Hello,

I hope it was a good day for you.  I had a rather big day, but not sure what kind it was.  To much to talk about here, so on to my butterfly.  : )  Here is butterfly #182.

A really simple 3" x 3" card again for you tonight.  I really like the way these simple cards turn out.  They just seem so striking to me, with just a few details.  That's it again for tonight.  Thanks for stopping by!

Take care,
Kelly
