Project 365, Day # 151

Hello,

I hope you had a good Friday!  Today was a busy day, which I think I say every day.  That sounds pretty boring after a while.  : )  Any hoot, tonight I helped out with a bonfire.  Molly and her friend Ellie planned this for an end of the school year get together.  It started at 5pm and we got home around 10pm.  Everyone had a great time and it was a great evening.  Luckily I did my butterfly before we left.  I just didn't have time to post it then.  Here is butterfly #151.

Here is the card I made for today's butterfly.  This card uses a lot of elements from the new catalog, which starts today.  I just love all the new elements of this card.  Here is a close up pic.

Simple details, just layered on top of each other.  Fun new colors, embossing folder and stamp images.  I was going to do the ingredient list, but I am a bit tired.  If there is anything you want to know about, just ask me though and I would be happy to tell you about it.  Thanks for stopping by!

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Day # 150

Hello!

I hope you all had a good Thursday.  I am definitely a day behind with everything that needs to be done.  I wanted to go stamp just a little, so I ran out and did a card today.  Here is butterfly #150.

This is a simple little 3" x 3" card.  I used a new sneak peak color though.  Strawberry Slush is from the new catalog.  Don't you love the names.  It is a really nice color.  I did a little color on color stamping for the background.  I stamped the butterfly image on Whisper White, with Strawberry Slush ink.  I cut that out and then layered it on a punched butterfly piece of Strawberry Slush card stock.  A little Whisper White ribbon is just the right accent.  A very simple card but it makes a great impression.  That's all for tonight.  Have a great evening!

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Day# 149

Hello,

I hope you had a good day.  Today was the normal busy day for me, nothing exciting.  Here is butterfly #149.

A simple pen and ink tonight.  I need to get my studio cleaned up so I can do a card again.  I am trying to go through and organize all my current sets and retired sets.  I need to let go of some of the retired sets but that is the hardest thing for me to do.  I always think, 'I never know when I might need it'.  Not a good way to downsize and organize though.  : )  That's all for tonight.  Thanks for stopping by!

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Day #148

Hello,

I hope you had a good day.  Today was the usual Monday for me, except on Tuesday.  Lots of running and doing bills and such.  So on to my butterfly.  Here is butterfly #148.

Chris gave me another idea for a butterfly tonight, using crayons and being more abstract and loose.  I just couldn't seem to make it work for me.  So after taking a break for a little, I drew this one up quick.  A simple design but I like pen and ink.  Have a great evening and thanks for stopping by.

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Day #147

Happy Memorial Day!

I want to say Thank You again to all the service men and woman!  I hope you are told every day thank you for what you do.

On to today's butterfly.  Here is butterfly #147.

Here is my quick butterfly for today.  I actually got another idea of what I should have done today, but I can save that for another day.  Simple little polka-dotted butterfly.  That's it for me for today.  Back to family time and dinner.  Have a great evening and thanks for stopping by!

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Day #146

Hello,

I hope you are having a great Sunday.  I got my butterfly done early today.  We were sitting outside for a bit, so I decided to draw at the same time.  Here is butterfly #146.

I started drawing the top wings and then I drew the bottom.  After I inked them in though, I didn't like the combination as much of the two.  Sometimes the design stands out more when it is inked up.  I still like the butterfly, I might just play around with the top wings again.  Once I ink it up thought, I make it a rule not to go back to it for today's butterfly.  Otherwise, I might go on and on.  : )

That's it for today.  Have a great Memorial Day!  Thank you to all the service men and woman!  It is truly amazing what you do!

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Day #145

Hello,

A very late post tonight.  I am just trying to get it in before midnight.  Busy day of cleaning/organizing, then family time.  We just finished watching a movie and I was trying to draw my butterfly during it.  Here is butterfly #145.

It is my intent that this butterfly look like it is made out of ribbon.  It kind of has a feel like it could be part of a crest or something.  Well that's all I have tonight.  Got to get this posted.  See you tomorrow!

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Day #144

Hello!

I hope you all had a good Friday!  I wrote this post a little earlier because I took the girls to Disneyland today.  I don't know if I will make it to midnight but I wanted to get my butterfly done, just in case.  Here is butterfly #144.

Another origami butterfly today.  This one is actually the easiest of the three I have done so far.  This one starts with a 4" x 6" piece of designer series paper.  This one only requires a few folds.  It came out really cute.

I hope you have a great evening and thanks for stopping by!  Enjoy your long weekend as well, may it be a great one!

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Day #143

Hello,

Happy Thursday to you!  I you had a good day.  I volunteered at the honors picnic today for Molly's school.  That was my entire morning and then I was just running and picking up the girls.  For some reason, I had a horrible migraine today, so that slowed me down a bit.  I decided to do my butterfly early today, so I could really get to bed early tonight.  Here is butterfly #143.

A little hidden mickey Vinylmation, for today's butterfly.  Well not so hidden.  : )  Tomorrow Disneyland is open for 24 hours and the girls want to go.  We will go for a bit, but I don't think there is any way this old gal can make it until 6am the next day.  That would be pretty incredible if I could.  Quite honestly I don't think the girls can last that long either but you never know.

Thanks for stopping by!

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Day #142

Hello,

I hope you all had a good day.  I was working all day again on a project I started on Sunday.  I decided to paint the hallway on Sunday, and have been working on it for four days.  I didn't say anything before because Chris was in Vegas and I didn't want him to read about it.  I tend to do big projects when he goes away.  I still need to take the after pictures, so hopefully I can show you those tomorrow.  I am pretty tried, so on to my butterfly.  Here is butterfly #142.

I made another origami butterfly tonight.  This one is a little more difficult than yesterdays.  It took a little longer to get this one to come together.   I also started with a 6" x 6" piece of designer series paper for this one, so it is significantly smaller.  I am enjoying making the butterflies.  I need to get some origami paper and they will go together a little easier.  That's all for tonight,

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Day #141

Hello,

I hope you had a good day!  Not much new to report here, so on to my butterfly.  Here is butterfly #141.

An origami butterfly tonight.  I have done origami before, I actually learned way back in the sixth grade.  : )  The idea popped in my head, to see if there were directions out there for butterflies.  There were lots of them.  So, I might play with more designs.  I used a full sheet of 12 x 12 designer series paper for this one.  It is pretty big.   It came out pretty good.  Alyssa told me to make 1000 of them, just like the story of the 1000 origami cranes.  I don't think I will make that many, but you never know.  : )   Have a great night and thanks for stopping by.

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Day #140

Hello,

I hope you had a good Monday.  Busy day for me.  Chris is in Las Vegas until Wednesday, so the girls and I got to watch a chick flick while we were eating dinner.  That inspired my butterfly for tonight.  Here is butterfly #140.

We watched Pitch Perfect tonight and that is how I got the idea to use the sheet music and notes for the butterfly.  I like this one.  It is different from the ones I have done in the past and I like how it all came together.  Well I still have a little more work to do before bed.  Thanks for stopping by and have a great evening!

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Day #139

Hello,

I hope you all had a good day today.  It was very busy for me.  I just finished working on a project and drew up a quick butterfly for tonight.  Here is butterfly #139.

I decided to just do pen to paper tonight, no pencil.  I also wanted to make it a collage, because just one butterfly looked odd on the paper tonight.  That's all for me tonight.  Thanks for stopping by!

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Day #138

Hello,

I hope you are having a good Saturday.  It's been a good day here.  It's nice having Alyssa home and we had a good family dinner outside, hanging out and chatting.  I got my butterfly done a little early, so we can all watch a movie together.  Here is butterfly #138.

Another illustration for today.  They seem to be the easy go to at the end of the day.  They still take a bit to do, but easy to do in the sense I can sit down and draw.  Working in the studio requires standing.  I don't like to sit when I am working on a card or other paper project.  I feel like a don't get the right perspective or something.  Weird but true.  Well have a great rest of your evening!  Thanks for stopping by.

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Day #137

Happy Friday to you!

I hope you had a good day!  I had a busy day cleaning and trying to make a slip cover for a chair.  We had a person come by tonight to look at the kitchen and bathrooms.  We want to get them redone and are just starting the process.

Alyssa got home tonight.  I am happy to see her!  Chris was very tired from the drive and Alyssa is tired from the weeks of finishing all her drawings for her finals.  So everyone is in bed now.  I did I another drawing for tonight.  Here is butterfly #137.

I wasn't sure what I would do tonight but I got a little spark and I really like what I came up with.  I hope you enjoy this one.

I hope you have a great weekend.  Thanks for stopping by!

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Day #136

Hello,

I hope you had a good day.  Chris drove up to San Francisco today to pick up Alyssa.  She is done with school tomorrow and they will drive back home tomorrow as well.  I am excited to see her and all her work she did this year.  I know she is excited for a break.  It will be nice to have her home for a few months.

I got an idea for a butterfly tonight by seeing a tree image.  Here is butterfly #136.

I decided I wanted to have the negative space as the butterfly tonight.  It may be a little harder to see, but the butterfly is in the center.  The center tree is the body of the butterfly and the blank spaces around it, are the wings.  I was going to do more shading with a pencil but the pencil lines don't show up when I scan the drawing.

I hope you enjoyed this different butterfly.  Thanks for stopping by tonight.

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Day #135

Hello,

I hope you had a good day.  Mine was good, just trying to get things done and get more organized.  I am trying to stay on top of tasks and not let things get behind.  Not always easy to do, but that's what I am working on.  Another illustration tonight.  Here is butterfly #135.

I didn't really have inspiration for this one.  I think it shows.  It's ok, just not my favorite.  Sometimes the ideas just pop in my head and other times, I just can't seem to think of what I want to do.  That's the creative process sometimes.  Have a great evening and thanks for stopping by!

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Day #134

Happy Tuesday,

I hope you all had a good day today.  I got a lot done today but why is there always more to do?!  The list just keeps regenerating itself.  : )   Today I have another illustration for you.  Here is butterfly #134.

I wanted to do something a little different and create the butterfly from other images.  I do like the way this one turned out.  Chris really likes this one and wants to hang it in his office.  It might pop out at you right away, but I noticed it when I set the drawing down away from me, do you see eyes with a frown?  That was not my intention and it's funny how different things can pop up like that.  That's all for tonight.  Let me know what you think.  Have a great evening.

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Day #133

Hello,

I hope you had a good day.  Typical Monday for me.  I enjoyed yesterday so much and wish I could have a few more of those relaxing, do nothing days.  : )  Here is butterfly #133.

I was working in the garage and when I went back into the kitchen I saw this butterfly on our door.  The door was open and the butterfly flew into the house and was on another door panel trying to get back out.  I grabbed the camera quick to take a picture.  I figured this was meant to be for my butterfly for tonight.  Chris then carefully got the butterfly to move over and get to the opening and it was free.  It seemed to be perfect.  We leave the door open all the time and this was the first time that a butterfly ever came into the house.  I hope you enjoy this beautiful butterfly!  Thanks for stopping by.

Take care,
Kelly

Here is butterfly #132.

Project 365, Day #131

Happy Saturday to You!

I hope you had a good day.  I started my mother's day a little early.  I was up at 6am still and started cleaning up a little around the house.  When the sun came out though, I went outside to soak it up a little.  I did work in the studio a bit, but that was on a few mustache items.  We decided to go out to dinner tonight and then spend the day at home tomorrow.  Then we have no worries about going out tomorrow.  Here is butterfly #131.

We went to Mahe tonight for sushi.  It is one of my favorite restaurants.  Here is a simple butterfly with edamame, ginger, chopsticks and of course the plate.  It is a simple butterfly but I have to say I love this picture.  I think it came out great.  I wish you a wonderful rest of the evening.  Thanks for stopping by!

Take care,

Project 365, Day #130

Happy Friday!

I hope you all had a good day!  Busy as usual for me.  Seems like I am typing the same thing over and over again lately.  : )  On to my butterfly tonight.  Here is butterfly #130.

An illustration for tonight.  I want to make some cards again, so hopefully I can get in the studio tomorrow and make a card.  Short and sweet tonight.  Have a great Saturday!  Thanks for stopping by!

Project 365, Day #129

Hello!

I hope you had a good day!  I had my Mother's Day show today.  It was a long day for sure.  I did get to draw while I was there.  I just needed to ink it up when I got home.  Here is butterfly #129.

I like the way this one came out.  It would be cool colored in as well.  Well it's been a long day, so that's it for me tonight.  Thanks for stopping by!

Project 365, Day #128

Good evening,

This will be quick because I only have 30 minutes before the end of the night.  I was super busy today, with lots of different things.  Cody had to go for a check up today, I was working on purses for tomorrow, I taught the cake decorating class, worked on the purses again and all those other normal daily tasks.  Crazy busy and super tired.  I have a quick illustration for you tonight.  Here is butterfly #128.

I just grabbed the three markers that were by the desk and drew this one.  Simple again, not much time for detail.  That's all for tonight.  The show tomorrow starts at noon, so I probably need to leave at 10am to set up.  It goes until 9pm.  It will definitely be a long day tomorrow.  Have a great Thursday.  Thanks for stopping by!

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Day #127

Hello!

I hope it was a good day for you.  A jam packed one for me.  I have a Mother's Day Boutique I am doing on Thursday, so working on a few new items for that.  I am teaching a cake decorating class tomorrow at Edison High School.  It is for a ROP class, and the instructor asks me every term to come and do the fondant and decorating part.  I like to make royal icing up the night before and make a few flowers out of it so the kids can see how the icing hardens.  It gets rock hard and then the decorations can be added to the cake.  It only made sense to make a few butterflies out the icing, especially since I just finished the flowers at 10pm.  Here is butterfly #127.

I made up these four.  I didn't feel like changing the icing tips, so I managed with the flower tips.  They are not to bad for four attempts.  : )  I will show you the little violets I made for the class.

The violets are about 3/4" square, to give you a better idea of their size.  I made about 60 of them.  If you click on the picture to enlarge it, you can see the two little yellow dots for the center of the violets.  These will dry overnight on the wax paper.  Then they can be pulled off and added to a cake, cupcake or even cookie.  They are the girls favorite tasting decoration.

That's all for tonight.  Have a great Wednesday and thanks for stopping by.

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Day #126

Hello,

I hope you had a good Monday.  Straight to my butterfly tonight, since I am very tired.  Here is butterfly #126.

A simple line sketch for tonight.  I started working on a different butterfly with beading but that will take another hour or so and I am to tired to finish that one.  : )   I decided to use colors again tonight, I like the change of pace from the black and white.

That's all for tonight, thanks for stopping by!

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Day #125

Hello!

I hope you are having a great Sunday!  I don't know about you but I am exhausted from my week.  Lots of catching up to do today but didn't get it all done yet.  I decided to do my butterfly early so I can relax, eat dinner and maybe watch a movie.  Here is butterfly #125.

A little bit of color today.  I wanted to add some blue and green but didn't want to use the markers, because they would look to streaky with a big area.  So just a few bits of color in the details.  I think it looks like it is missing something though.  Not sure.  Things look different to me once I get them up on the computer screen.  : )

That's all for now.  Enjoy the rest of your day!  Thanks for stopping by!

Take care,
Kelly

Uptown Village Market Show

Good morning!

I thought I would check in quick before my show starts.  I will be here until 5pm tonight, stop by and  say Hi and check out all the great artists!

Here is one of my display racks.  A little mixture of everything on there.

One more shot for you.

I just got an iPad to use for my business.  I am trying to figure this thing out though.  It is not working the same as when I am on my desktop.  I have tried to finish this post for over 30 minutes.  Not very productive. :). Things keep popping back on me and I can't get to the bottom of the page.  Crazy!

Got that much for you now.  Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Day #124

Hello again,

I got home from my show today and had about 30 minutes to eat dinner before we had a Retrofest Concert at the high school.  The concert was great.  The kids do an amazing job.  It's a good thing that I had time to draw my butterfly today at my show.  (Well not really a good thing because that means there wasn't a lot of foot traffic.)  Anyways, we just got home from the concert and I just needed to ink up my pencil drawing.  Here is butterfly #124.

A little more detail than yesterday's butterfly.  I do like trying to figure out different ideas for filling in the butterflies with lines.  Well it's almost 11:30 now and I think that's it for me tonight.  Thanks for stopping by!

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Day #123

Hello!

I just got home from my show at 11pm.  I almost forgot about my butterfly because I am so tired.  Luckily I was talking about my project 365 to my neighbors at the show, and I realized I hadn't done it yet.  So here is tonight's butterfly #123.

A very simple sketch.  That's about all I have for tonight.  I have my show again tomorrow.  Thanks for stopping by!

Take care,
Kelly

Project 365, Day #122

Hello all!

I hope you had a good day.  I am just getting everything ready for tomorrow's show.  Set up is from 1-4pm and it is open from 5pm-10pm.  It will be a long day but I hope a great one.  I have an odd looking butterfly tonight.  Here is butterfly #122.

I was cutting out more items from my mustache fabric.  The fabric has a set pattern, so I have to place the pattern pieces individually, to have the mustaches line up nicely.  I end up having a lot of waste though.  I decided to cut out a couple mustaches to make the butterfly.  The bottom wings are one mustache cut in half.  Of course they look like boots to me know.   That is my butterfly for tonight though.  Have a great day tomorrow and I will probably be checking in very late tomorrow, unless I get organized early.  Thanks for stopping by.

Take care,
Kelly

Oops, one little add on.  I posted this and then was talking to Chris and I realized I made it a third of the way through the year.  How cool!  I also think how scary that a third of the year has gone by but that's life.  Just really happy to commit to this and keep it going.  Thanks again!

Project 365, Day #121

Hello!

Happy Wednesday to you!  I hope it was a good day.  I can't believe it's May already.  Crazy how the months seem to be flying by.  I did get to sew and finish a few things for my show this weekend.  Here is the purse I was talking about yesterday, plus a few other items.

The color is a little off,  it looks brighter than it actually is.  For some reason the camera couldn't pick up the true color.  I am really excited about the clutch.  It is a patchwork of three fabrics that I put together.  I think it is really fun.  Now on to today's butterfly.  Here is butterfly #121.

This is a 3" x 3" card.  I little straight line dry embossing for detail on the bottom.  The rest is all about the Jewelry Tag punch and the matching Tiny Tags stamp set.  Both items are being retired.  I will miss them.  I like the addition of all the little butterfly friends to the card.
