Wintery Hello and a chance to help

Hello!

It's hard to believe I live in Southern California, when I have been waking up to 36 degrees.  : )  I feel like I am back in New York.  Just waiting for the snow now.  I love the snow this time of year and have missed it.  I would like to see it, just not sure it should be at the beach, but hey, who knows.

I wanted to share something I saw on another demonstrators site and pass this along to all of you.

When school resumes for Sandy Hook, it will be in a new building. Parent-volunteers are working to ensure that the students are welcomed back by a winter wonderland with the entire school decorated with as many unique snowflakes as possible.

*this is copied right from the Connecticut PTSA site*

Connecticut PTSA is deeply saddened by the tragedy that has struck our Newtown community. We have met with the PTA and community leaders in Newtown and Sandy Hook Elementary to offer our assistance at this very difficult time. They have asked us to spearhead the following efforts on their behalf:
Snowflakes for Sandy Hook
Please help the students of Sandy Hook have a winter wonderland at their new school! Get Creative!! No two snowflakes are alike. Make and send snowflakes to Connecticut PTSA, 60 Connolly Parkway, Building 12, Suite 103, Hamden, CT 06514, by January 12, 2013.

I hope you can all join in helping make snowflakes.  I started making snowflakes again every year, after watching 'Elf' the first time, and decorating the house with them.  So we have already already been working on them.  I am also trying to see if we can do something at the girls schools.  I hope you can join me and others to help out with the snowflakes!

Take care,
Kelly

Ornamental Elegance Kit

Hello!

I hope everyone is doing well!  I have been sick for a week battling flu symptoms and then a sinus infection.  I am still not 100% but I need to get back to work : )

Stampin' Up! just put together a Ornamental Elegance Kit.  It is a simplified version of the ornament that is on the front cover of the Holiday Catalog.  They got such great response from it, they decided to put together a kit.  You can order these kits now and they are while supplies last.  I imagine they won't last long.

The Ornamental Elegance Kit (132832) is $14.95 and includes:
  • Die-Cut Cardstock Elements
  • Cherry Cobbler 3-1/2" Scalloped Tulle Ribbon
  • Natural Linen Thread
  • Vintage Faceted Designer Buttons
  • Large Pearl Basic Jewels
This is just in time to create 10 heirloom ornaments--or stunning tags to attach to a special neighbor gift.

In addition to the kit, all you need is a glue gun, scissors, and adhesive. (Our Anywhere Glue Sticks [104045] are perfect for assembly.) Want greeting or place cards to go with those ornaments? The Ornament Keepsakes Stamp Set (W 128048 C 128051) gives you perfect coordination. Fancy a little sparkle and shine? Sprinkle on our Dazzling Diamonds Stampin' Glitter
(102023)!

Act fast if you like these.   Are you interested in attending a class where you could assemble these?  Let me know by commenting on the post.  I would be happy to set up a class and order all the goodies, so they are here ready and waiting for you to complete.

Enjoy your day!

Take care,
Kelly

Small Business Saturday

Hello!

I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving!  Mine was great!!  It is so nice to have Alyssa home for the weekend!  She leaves tomorrow, so we are going to do some more fun things today!

Today is Small Business Saturday.  It's a great day to go out and support those great little shops that make this country run!  Small businesses can be found everywhere now, and with today's technology, online is another option.  Of course my Stampin' Up! business is one of my small businesses, that I work at to support myself and my love of paper crafting.  My other small business is my handbags.  These are a new venture for me but equally as enjoyable.  I just love the creative process.  I have my Etsy Shop finally up and running.  If you haven't checked out Etsy yet, you should!  There are so many amazing artists on there.  You can find everything and anything on there and support those small business that you otherwise wouldn't have a chance to see.

If you would like to check out my shop, here is the link www.kgdezigns.etsy.com
I am having a coupon for my grand opening, if you are interested, all the details are at my shop or you can contact me if you have any questions.

Have a wonderful day!

Take care,
Kelly

Photo Card samples

Hello!

I hope you all had a good Sunday!  I was planning on posting these earlier today but I decided to get out the Christmas decorations and start decorating.  I usually don't start this early but Alyssa comes home on Wednesday and I wanted to surprise her.  She is just home for a few days and then doesn't get break until December 22, so I wanted her to enjoy a bit of it now.  So I spent the day working on that and still have a lot to do.  Everyone wanted the decorations up but I'm the only one working.  I guess it is a little hard for them to help, but it is tiring by the end of the day.  It is starting to look good though!

So here are some photo card samples for you.  I wanted to keep them simple so they were easy to make multiples of.  The first card is a full 5 1/2" x 8" card with a wallet size photo (shown by the white paper).  It has a little of dry embossing on it, which is great detail, and so easy to do.  I also used the Festival of Prints Designer Series Paper Stack on all the cards.   Did you notice it in the Holiday catalog,  p. 20?  It is great and has so many patterns.  The paper is 4 1/2" x 6 1/2".  I used a half sheet of it on this card.  My idea behind all the cards was to just use this stack for all your cards, making them quick to put together because there is less cutting.  There are 4 each of all the patterns so your cards would be slightly different buy equally beautiful!

This next sample is a 5" x 7" postcard.  I decided to make it a postcard for a change of pace but it could easily be made into a full card.  The photo size on this card is 4" x 6" (shown by the white paper).  I have a few die cuts from the Ornament Keepsakes bundle, (stamp set and framelits).  This one uses the full sheet of the paper stack.

Here is the back side of the postcard.  One sheet of Very Vanilla with a stamped greeting and a couple stamped images.

This last sample is a full half sheet card, or it can be a post card as well.  It also is a 4" x 6" photo (shown by the white paper).  This card just gives you a little more room to add a few more embellishments.  This one is also a simple version.  I have a stepped up version below.  It is a little hard to see in these small photos, but if you click on the photo they will enlarge and you can see more detail.

Here is the stepped up version.  I added the Lucky Limeade behind the photo and greeting.  Just adds that bit of 'pop'.  I also wrapped the bakers twine around twice and tied a bow, where before I just tied a knot and hid it under the greeting.  I also added a little bling to the ornaments, dazzling diamonds and basic rhinestones.  You could choose one or the other or both, just depends on what you like best.

Here is a close up of the ornaments, so maybe you can see the bling a little better.

I hope you enjoyed the samples.  These can easily be duplicated or changed up using your favorite set.  I have to say I love the new framelits to match the stamp sets.  It's so nice to have the images cut out without the work of cutting them by hand (because that's no fun :) ).

Remember the Online Extravaganza starts tomorrow!

Thanks for stopping by!

Take care,
Kelly

Stampin' Trimmer

Hello!

It's here!  It's been in the new catalog and is now available.  I have to say I may have had my doubts about a new cutter because I've tried a bunch.  I really do love this one!  It cuts really easy and the guide keeps your cuts straight.  No more pulling the arm out just to cut a sheet of card stock in half.  It really is cool.  Watch the video from the home office and read all the details below.

If you have any questions just let me know and I would be happy to tell you more.

Introducing the new and improved Stampin' Trimmer! Although paper trimmers are a common crafting tool, this trimmer was designed exclusively by paper crafters for paper crafters-and because it was made by Stampin' Up!, you know it's a cut above the rest! Please note, the cutting and scoring blade refills will be available early in December.
Features of the All-New Stampin' Trimmer
  • An extra-wide 6-1/4" cutting base and an extended 14-1/2" ruler
    • The extra-wide cutting base provides a large work area and is marked in 1/4" (4 mm) increments, allowing for small measurements.
    • The right-side grid helps you measure and cut very thin strips.
    • The extended cutting arm has a stabilizing leg to provide a sturdy and steady cutting surface for longer cuts.
    • When fully extended, the extended cutting arm sits flush with the trimmer base, providing more accurate and consistent measurements across the entire surface.
    • The cutting base and track include a full ruler, incorporating measurements down to 1/16" and grid lines that mark each quarter inch.
    • All rulers and measurements on the base are printed under a plastic cover so your measurements won't wear off.
    • The base has nonskid feet, which keeps the Stampin' Trimmer securely in place on your work area.
  • A full 12" cutting and scoring track
    • The extra-long cutting track has space at the top and bottom so you don't have to take the cutting and scoring blades out when you're not using them.
    • The track gives you enough space to cut or score a full 12" (30.5 cm) without having to remove or switch out handles.
    • The cutting track locks in place for secure storage or transport.
    • The track includes an insertion point for cutting and scoring blade handles so you can easily insert handles into the cutting track.
  • Specially designed handles and cutting track to ensure straight cuts
    • The hook on the scoring and cutting blade handles keeps the handles stable so the cuts are as straight as possible.
    • Handles come in two colors: dark for cutting, light for scoring.
    • The precision tip on the cutting blade allows you to pinpoint precisely where you're cutting.
    • The point on the side of each handle shows you where the blade will cut, making it easy to see exactly where your cuts and scores will begin.
  • Storage compartment under base
    • The storage compartment holds scoring and cutting tools such as a Bone Folder, Simply Scored Stylus, extra scoring and cutting blades.
    • Separate compartments within the storage compartment keep your tools organized, and the clear cover makes it easy to see what you've stored.
  • Product details: item 126889; $29.95
So many great things happening right now.  More specials to come!  Stay tuned...
Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Take care,
Kelly

Alyssa's Birthday

Hi!

Alyssa's birthday is also in October, and she turned 18 this year.  She is away at school in San Francisco and was unable to come home for her birthday.  Sad for all of us.  I sent her a care package for her special day.  It included her presents of course and a few home made items.  She requested one of my cakes, but alas I was not able to fulfill that request.

I made her a Happy Birthday banner using DSP, scallop circle punch, owl punch and alphabet die.

Since her birthday is so close to Halloween, I decided to make the 'birthday' part of the banner double sided.  That way she could use it again.
I'm not sure if she did hang it up, I didn't ask her, but either way, it was fun to make.

Here is a close up of the pennants.  I used the owl punch behind the letters.  Alyssa loves owls and it was a nice accent.

She didn't get a cake but I did send her a cupcake with her Happy Birthday greetings written on it.    I also sent her a tin full of her favorite sugar cookies.  Some halloween themed ones, the leaf because she loves fall and the changing colors and Dr. Whos' Tardis.  She loves that show and has gotten Chris and I hooked again.  (We used to watch it back in the day)  A rather quick frosting job, because I was finishing them at about 10 at night, but still delicious.

She called when she got the box and loved everything in it.  It was so nice to hear the excitement in her voice.  We Skyped on her birthday and talked for a while.  We then turned the computer monitor towards the tv and ate dinner and watched an episode of Dr. Who together.  Weird what you can do with technology.  It was cool to 'hang out' with her.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Take care,
Kelly

Molly's Birthday

Hi!

October is always such a busy month for me, I thought I would share some of the things I worked on in October, this month.  Molly had her 13th Birthday in October.  All of my girls are teenagers now.  How did that happen?!?  She had a costume party this year.  You already saw her costume I made from an earlier post, click here, if you missed that one.  I usually make the cakes as well and depending on the time I have, I spend anywhere from 3 hours on up.  I have these ideas in my head, and usually sketch something out and then try and make it work with cake and sugar concoctions.  So, here you go, Molly's bat.

Love this shot!

All in all, it came out pretty good.  The body of the bat and the branch are cake, covered in fondant.  The wings proved to be a challenge and that was the second set.  They are made with sugar pastillage, and that was my first time playing with that.  Molly liked the cake, she still likes me to surprise her with the cakes.  Sometimes the other girls have requests.   Either way, it is fun coming up with and seeing the finished cake.  My favorite shot is the last one, I just happened to switch from video to the camera quick and got the candle shot.  Molly and the girls had a fun time at her party!

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

Take care,
Kelly

Happy Halloween

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

I hope everyone is having a good Halloween!  For my family and friends on the east cost I hope you are all doing well and things get back to normal soon.

Just sharing a few things tonight.  This is one of my favorite outside decorations.

We got to carve pumpkins this year.  I always buy them to carve but somehow they don't always get carved.  I am usually sewing all day today to finish costumes.  I did sew some today but luckily Molly's birthday party was last week and it was a costume party, so I did most of the work last week. Here is Mols in her costume.  Isn't she cute!

Here are our pumpkins!

Single stamps are eligible as well and Stampin' Up! has added to their selection.  Check out the selection below.  You can also see all the options at my online store.  http://www.stampinup.net/esuite/home/kellygodlewski/     Just click the shop now button and search under stamps, then single stamps.

Here are a few specials from me.

Place an order of $25 or more and receive sampler bag with the new In Color Dahlias.
Place an order of $50 or more and receive the special above plus a sampler bag of the new In Color Stitched Satin Ribbon.
Place an order of $75 or more and receive the two above specials plus a sampler of the new Core'dinations Card Stock.

Purchase the 'Affection Collection' Stamp Set with any order and you will be invited to a free class highlighting this stamp set. You will see the versatility and make three projects.
(It can be found on page 35 of the Holiday Catalog.)

****Remember that you can earn hostess benefits for orders of $150 or more.  If you take advantage of that, I will contact you with another special offer.****
